AAA determines speeding plays active role in teen driving accidents

A recent survey conducted by the AAA revealed that speed is a major factor in accidents involving teenage drivers nationwide, an article of NBC San Diego reported on October 12.

According to AAA Driver Training Operations Manager Bill Van Tassel, roughly two-thirds of teen drivers are involved in vehicular accidents resulting in injuries or deaths. Data over five years showed that 4,200 of the estimated 14,000 deadly accidents were caused by speeding. Many of the driving instructors who participated in the AAA survey noted that teenage drivers often were not groomed by their parents to become responsible drivers and that teens initially acquire driving behaviors like speeding and cell phone use from parents.
