Suspected drunken drivers busted in SD

San Diego County authorities recently confirmed that they arrested 16 drivers suspected of driving a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, an article of 10News reported on August 27.

The suspected drunken drivers were stopped over the weekend at the three checkpoints set up by police on August 26 and into the following day. Police Officer Mark McCullough said the force arrested 16 drivers of the 654 inspected by the authorities. The California Office of Traffic Safety issued a grant to put up the checkpoints. Many of the drivers were apprehended in Mission Bay Park, where one of the checkpoints was stationed. Many drivers were also given citations for driving-related violations aside from DUIs.
