Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle in Oceanside

A pedestrian faced fatal injuries after being hit by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver in Oceanside. The accident occurred on April 21 on the south side of Mission Avenue as the victim walked westbound.

The pedestrian was a man in his late 60’s, who was walking in the bike lane before being struck by a vehicle travelling eastbound. The pedestrian was later pronounced dead after being airlifted to a hospital. Police learned from witnesses that the driver veered into the bike lane before the accident happened. Police identified and arrested the driver, 42-year-old Ricky Robledo. After police discovered Robledo had a minor passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, they filed several charges including vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment.
